It’s time for the 3rd Annual Kid’s Marathon right here in the Wiregrass! This event is FREE for kids ages K-8th grade until February 10st! The last 1.2 miles will be celebrated at Northview High School on March 5th! The 2016 Five Points of Life Kids Marathon is just a few of calendar pages away, and it’s a good time for youngsters to register and start charting their miles. Last year over 200 kids participated. Don’t miss out-Register Today! Five Points of Life is a foundation started by LifeSouth to raise awareness of the five ways to share life with others through the donation of blood, apheresis, marrow, cord blood and organ and tissue. It also offers classroom programs to students in the Wiregrass area that teach the science and social responsibility of donating. The kids marathon promotes fitness and offers lessons in goal setting. Participants in kindergarten through eighth grade will run or walk the full 26.2 mile marathon distance a little bit at a time, logging their distance as they go. Then on March 5th at Northview High School, Dothan, they’ll have the opportunity to celebrate their accomplishment and earn a medal at the finish line. It starts at 8:30 a.m. All participants also receive a T-shirt.

Master Karate Instructors are Mike Culbreth, Dennis Trawick and Vivian Ash. Cost is $50 per month per participant.

This non-aggressive Martial Art promotes relaxation, straight posture, good balance, internal strength, coordination and peace of mind. The movements calm a person's emotions and focus the mind, helping to improve bodily functions and prevent aging and disease. Cost is $50 per month. Register during the first class you attend each month.

TSUD Spring Career Fair

When is your event? = 2/11/16 More than 25 area businesses from various industries will be looking for new employees during the annual spring career fair at the Dothan Campus on Thursday, Feb. 11. Held each spring during the week of Valentine's Day, the annual career fair invites jobseekers to "Find the Job You'll Love." The career fair will be held from 9 a.m. to noon inside the Harrison Room in Malone Hall. Attendees will have the chance to speak with representatives from numerous area employers. Participants are advised to dress professionally and have resumes ready to hand out. Girls Inc. 22nd Father Daughter Banquet

Girls Inc. of Dothan will host their annual Father Daughter Banquet on Thursday, February 11, 2016, at 6 p.m. at the Dothan Civic Center. This popular event is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the special relationship between daughters and fathers or other favorite male role models. The evening features a seated catered dinner by Outback Steakhouse, music, dancing, photographs by Wilson Oppert Photography, and a gift bag for each attendee. Reservations are required - $125 per couple and $45 for each additional daughter. Reservations after February 1st are $150 per couple and $70 each additional daughter. All proceeds from this event benefit Girls Inc. in fulfilling their mission of inspiring girls in the Wiregrass area to be strong, smart and bold.


Wiregrass Boomers & Seniors Valentine’s Concert & Dance

The Wiregrass Boomers and Seniors Valentine’s Concert and Dance will be held Thursday, Feb. 11 at the Enterprise Civic Center from 7-9 p.m. “The Dothan Moonlighters,” a popular local big band, jazz and swing music band, will perform. Dancers and spectators are invited to come and have a relaxing evening of music. Light refreshments will be served. Seating is limited, so notification of attendance is important. Admission is free.

Valentine's Concert and Dance

Cost? = none, free The Valentine's Concert and Dance is a fun event being held for the third year at the Enterprise Civic Center. Admission is free for baby boomers and seniors. Music will be provided by the Dothan Moonlighters, a big band jazz and swing band. Attendees are encouraged to dance. Do attendees need to register beforehand? Yes, even though admission is free, we want people who plan to attend to call SARCOA at 793-6843 to confirm their attendance. Light refreshments will be provided.

We donate to the USO for care packages to deployed troops AND to Jeep Sullivan's Wounded Warrior Outdoor Adventures (a LOCAL group) OPENING CEREMONIES! 32 high school baseball teams from Alabama and Florida; 4 college teams (Wallace, Enterprise, AUM and Thomas College) We send a portion of the proceeds to the USO who earmarks the funds for care packages to be sent to deployed troops. The other portion of the proceeds goes to Jeep Sullivan's Wounded Warrior Outdoor Adventures, which is a local wounded veteran's support group that concentrates on getting these Heroes out of the house and enjoying some of the things they enjoyed before their lives were changed due to their service We realize that most people want to do something to help our service members but simply don't know how and don't know what organizations to trust. 2016 Camellia Show

The SE AL Camellia Society will have our 2016 Camellia Show, Saturday, February 13, 2016, from 1:00 - 4:00 PM. If you would like to enter a bloom, please bring it Saturday between 7 - 10 AM. You must known the name of the bloom that you are entering, but if unsure someone at the show will be glad to help you. Please come out to support this important and beautiful event which features many blooms from our area and other states. We are proud of our heritage and legacy that we have in this area. There are many families and generations of families that have registered blooms. Please come and visit with us and bring others with you. Help us continue our History and Legacy of the beautiful camellia, Alabama's State Flower.
