Prayer replaced with moment of silence

ARAB, Ala. (AP) -- An Alabama school superintendent is reversing a policy he started a decade ago allowing every home football game at Arab High School to start with a prayer.
WHNT-TV reports that the policy has been under scrutiny since Arab City Schools Superintendent John Mullins received a letter from the Wisconsin-based Freedom From Religion Foundation.
The letter stated that a parent, whom it did not identify, objected to the pregame prayers.
Mullins apologized and said he now sees that the tradition doesn't comply with the Constitution, so school officials will replace it with a moment of silence.
WHNT-TV says some Arab residents now plan to stand and recite The Lord's Prayer before games.
