Georgia Pastors Swap Pulpits To Cross Racial Lines
Catt and Simmons' congregations meet together for special occasions

ALBANY, Ga. (AP) -- It's been 50 years since the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. called Sunday morning worship "the most segregated hour of Christian America."
Studies suggest it's much the same today, but some clergy are
trying to reach across racial lines.
One white pastor, Michael Catt, says it feels dishonest to lead a church in a mostly black city and look out on a white congregation. So he and a black pastor, Daniel Simmons, sometimes swap pulpits and their congregations meet together for special occasions.
Catt is senior pastor of Sherwood Baptist Church in Albany, Ga.,
which produced the films "Fireproof" and "Facing the Giants." Sherwood's latest movie is "Courageous."
