LYNCHBURG, Va. (AP) -- Republican presidential candidate Michele
Bachmann has exhorted Christian students at Liberty University not
to "settle" for less than God's best.
During a half-hour address to some 10,000 students, she briefly tied a message mostly about personal faith and responsibility to an appeal to reject President Barack Obama's agenda, including his
health care reforms. She made no mention of her GOP rivals in a
talk laced with Scripture.
The Minnesota congresswoman said her "life verse" from the Bible is Second Corinthians 3:17 -- "Now the Lord is that Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty."
She told Liberty University students that the freedom Jesus
Christ offers is "the essence of the founding of this nation."
