"March comes in like a lion, goes out like a lamb" says the old saying, which does more often than not hold true year to year. Growing up in Southern New England, I always remember March as  the monthe where one day it would be up to 60 degrees, the next we'd get struck with a foot of snow! (They also say in New England, if you don't like the weather, wait an hour.)

The first calender first day of Spring this year falls on March 20th at 12:32 CST, and Daylight Saving (*note* it is NOT "savings" time) Time begins Sunday March 14th at 2 am local time, approximately 9 days from today. Remember to set your clocks forward an hour before you head to bed Saturday evening.

One of the main reasons we often see such volitile weather during the Spring, and March especially is the transition of seasons from Winter into Spring. The southeast will get plenty of moisture out of the Gulf, and with latitude will warm the Southeast earlier than the midwest and northern plains. Storms move in off the Pacific much like they do during the Winter, but suddenly they interact with warmer, more unstable air. The boundary takes place intially around the plains and than extends often into the Missippi valley.

Along the gulf coast we've began the month on a quiet note, but around the 9th we'll begin to see a more unsettled & wet pattern begin to unfold with Lows coming of the Pacific into the southwest and southeast.

It has been one of the snowiest winters on record in New York City and Washington D.C. and I wouldn't doubt it if Mother Nature had one good punch left in her before retiring Old Man Winter for the year!

This weekend will be sunny & mild with highs in the middle 60's. Our first 70 degree temperature in months will likely show itself by Tuesday as well.
