Tomorrow marks Groundhog day, when our furry friend Phol; is yanked out of his hole to forsee the weather. All folklore aside, Winter is still firmly in place across the country. After a crippling snow and ice storm plagued the midwest and mid-atlantic last week, we begin our week in the 30s across Alabama. Clouds stay fairly thick on this first day of Febuary. The best way to describe this week? Unsettled. Isolated showers arrive overnight tomorrow, but bring more rain to Georgia. We'll be a little warmer, but not much. Wednesday will be pleasant and a little warmer and sunny, but not for long as a secondary gulf low builds Wednesday off south Texas and returns to the Wiregrass Thursday afternoon. This is a larger, slower moving system that will be slow to move and bring us rain Thursday and Friday. As far as thunderstorms, it looks like the center of the low will be too far south for widespread thunderstorms at this point, but isolated panhandle t-storms are possible. In a few days we will hone how much rainfall we're expecting. |
