Sorry folks, I know we're starting to sound like a broken record here in the 4Warn Storm Center, but it's not likely going to be this week when we get another blast of dry air. This is my third fall in the Wiregrass, and I have to say the past few weeks have definately been the muggiest and warmest for this time of year that I can remember. I believe Connor said it best a few nights ago... it certainly is the humidity and warm morning lows not the heat, that is making us nutty! For example, by climatological history, we should be starting our mornings in the LOW 50's. Wouldn't that be nice. In fact for about a week...we were. But for the past week, upper 60's and even low 70's. Pea soup looking overcast skies (some days those clouds are simply the fog lifting)...and enough humidity to give someone a natural perm!

The cold front that was approaching Friday evening has stalled out and will wash out before moving any further south...and the one behind that will likely stick around and lift as a warm front.. In other words, the systems havn't been strong enough to push through and whipe out the high humidity. In northern Alabama this has not quite been the case, but certainly Montgomery southward has really only been teased by Fall.

Here is what I think...and this is simply my humble opinion/projection for the end of the tropical, muggy weather. I believe by October 24th...we'll be in the clear. Not from the heat, but we shouldnt have this oppressive stickyness. We shall see.

The main reason I retired from Wisconsin to Alabama was to change my latitude. Outdoor activities are doable year around in the Wiregrass as opposed to "up North" (say Connecticut). I'll take this weather anytime. I should be reminded when I fly to Milwaukee Tuesday.
