It's the biggest recruiting day of the year, and it's finally here. National Signing Day has arrived.
This is the first day when high school seniors can officially sign with their future schools. Thousands of high school football players will make their lifelong dream a reality, and become college football players.
It's expected to be a big day for Alabama, with the Crimson Tide closing in on the number one recruiting class in the country. The Tide is already ranked number one by several recruiting services, and their class could get even better if some top uncommitted players choose Alabama throughout the day.
At Aubun, the Tigers are hoping to close strong. The Tigers have only 16 verbal commitments entering signing day, but Auburn is in the mix for 10 of the nation's top uncommitted players. A few of those recruits, including five-star wide receiver Stefon Diggs, won't make a decision until after National Signing Day, so the Tigers won't know the totality of their class until February 10th.
Troy is putting together another solid class under Head Coach Larry Blakeney. The Trojans class is heavy on defense, especially at defensive back. Some of Troy's top recruits are already enrolled, including First Coast, Florida DB Shaq Beverly. Troy will also sign some of the top players in our area, including Elba athlete Michael Lindsey and Daleville running back Brandon Burks.
The big schools aren't the only ones excited today. More than 20 players from our area will sign letters of intent. Along with Lindsey and Burks, Enterprise running back Willie Curry will sign with Air Force. Many other local recruits will make their college choices today.
WTVY will have complete coverage of signing day on News 4 at 5, 6 & 10. You can also follow along all day at www.wtvy.com.
