Here’s a tall-tale for you parents: a Huntsville boy reportedly fakes his own kidnapping to hide bad grades.

According to the Huntsville Times, the 11-year-old told police “a man with a pistol snatched him” when he was leaving school and “forced him into a beat-up car.” The child claimed he was able to flee his captor by jumping out of the car, but he was not able to get his backpack, which contained his report card. He did, however, manage to rescue his band instrument, which left police suspicious.

He later told his grandparents of his hoax. According to police, the child’s grandfather called to apologize and authorities have not yet charged the boy with a crime.

If you were the parent, what would you do? Has your child ever tried anything out of the ordinary to escape your seeing their grades? Post your comments and stories below.

Talk to older retired teachers to find out the answers to questions about education. I personally know one that taught 32plus years in early childhood and continues to teach at the college level. Over 40 plus years of experience and never interviewed or impaneled by the state to review education practices past, present or future. How do we ever expect to find solutions to problems in education if we never question the experts. As to the child - where did he ever get the idea in the first place to be "kidnapped" by a person with a "weapon". Who currently sets his limits? Or are we saying that he shouldn't have limits?
