Well it's Sunday night and I'm sitting in the 4Warn Storm Center awaiting our late newscast. It frequently goes on late due to nationally broadcasted programming, so it gives me some time to my thoughts. Having dual duty as Meteorologist and Reporter often times I have a hard time coming up with interesting story ideas for reporting days.
November sweeps begin on Halloween and as reporters we are responsible for putting together a series of two to three part stories. The topics can be anything that would interest the public, from politics to environment to sports! This Fall series I would like to do a spotlight feature on people who work jobs that require overnight shifts.
Typically the overnighters are the ones who keep the 9 to 5'ers days running smoothly, but are often overlooked due to the hours they keep. Some jobs I would like to investigate are postal places like UPS or Fed Ex, and stocking jobs. By this I mean all the people that keep places like Wal-Mart running safe, clean and functioning.
I was also thinking about spotlighting a government job, maybe a firefigher, police officer or ambulence driver?
If anyone has any ideas, or has a place of employment they think would be interested in I would love to hear your ideas! Feel free to post comments!
That's all for now, tune in to our late show at 10:30 tonight. Ciao!
