Sometimes people say quite inappropriate things when you are on television. I do understand that part of our jobs is in the public eye however I wish people would sometimes think before saying the first thing that comes to mind. Here are a few of the not so nice things I have heard recently
“We really didn’t like you when you started”
“You are SO much skinnier in person”
“You look much better in real life”
To me these are back handed compliments. I understand they often don’t come from a bad place but they do come across as a bit rude. Being on television I know that we have to develop a thick skin and I have done that but I do have to shake my head sometimes when I hear those remarks. I will say for every backhanded compliment usually comes 2-3 genuine and very nice ones. So as always I am going to focus on the positive.
