A few hours ago I dropped one of my best friends off at the airport. We had a wonderful week together and squeezed in as much fun times as we could. The visit was made even better when we went to Panama City on Friday. We spent two full days on the beach relaxing and enjoying the sunshine. The weather was perfect and so was the company. As I sat on the beach chair and reveled in the amazing day and waves lapping onto the white sand beaches I had a moment where I thought to myself that almost everything was exactly as it should be. How often do we do this in our daily lives? Not just on vacation but in ordinary moments? How often do we wait for Friday or wait for vacation to make us happy? I vowed on the beach to appreciate the little things more. To keep a gratitude journal and to really thank God for what I have been given. Gratitude of a major key to happiness but how many of us practice it daily?
From now on I vow to be thankful for the little things in life.
As if on cue reinforcing my beliefs –I met an amazing woman and her two children. It seemed we kept running into each other the whole trip. As I got to know her better she opened up about her life and told me that a few years back her partner had passed away from an aggressive form of cancer. She told me it took her a long time to overcome it but that she is now able to look back on the years she had with gratitude. People come into our lives at the exact moment they are needed. I knew she was there to teach me a lesson. Look for the signs around you. They are always there if we pay attention to them.
We had a wonderful time...
