Dr. Fischer was born in Minot North Dakota. He graduated With Distinction with a degree in Biology from the University of Colorado, Boulder, in 1975. He earned a masters degree in medicine from the University of North Dakota in 1977. He received his medical degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham Alabama in 1979. He completed his general surgery internship and urology residency training (1979-1984) at the Mayo Clinic School of Medicine in Rochester Minnesota.
Prior to his graduation from college he enlisted into the United States Army because of his belief that everyone should serve our country. Dr. Fischer is a veteran of the Vietnam War and received the Purple Heart in 1970. He also received the following honors and awards: Bronze Star, 4th Infantry Division Soldier of the Month, 2 Army Commendation Medals, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry, Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Commendation Medical with Oak Leaf Cluster and the Vietnamese Campaign Medal with 3 Battle Stars. Dr. Fischer feels that this difficult experience has positively influenced his life.
Dr. Fischer joined Urological Associates of Dothan, P.A. in July 1984.
Dr. Fischer is certified by the American Board of Urology and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (F.A.C.S.)
He is affiliated with the both Southeast Alabama Medical Center and Flowers Hospital located in Dothan Alabama.
Dr. Fischer interest include raising his two sons 14 and 17. He also enjoys flying (is a licensed commercial multi-engine instrument rated pilot), SCUBA diving, hiking, camping and traveling. He is a NRA expert marksman and has a passion for reading.
