A native of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Dr. Guster earned her undergraduate degree at Emory University and attended medical school at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She returned to Emory University to complete her residency. She is a member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the Georgia Obstetrical and Gynecological Society. She joined Obstetrics & Gynecology of Dothan in August 2012.
The aspect of her field Tia enjoys most is helping build knowledge and self-esteem in women. “The more you know, the more you can be self-empowered and live the best you,” she explains. While in medical school, Tia produced an educational DVD on sexual health.
As a patient-oriented physician, Tia says she takes her time and ensures patients feel like they’ve been heard. “I listen first, then ask questions,” she notes. Her special interests include pelvic organ prolapse, urogynecology and teen health. One of her most rewarding experiences as an OBGYN involved successfully helping a junior resident deliver a vaginal breech. “I love the fact that every day is something new and exciting,” she says.
As a health and fitness enthusiast, Tia runs in 5k and 10k races and half-marathons, and strength-trains, and does mild weight-lifting. She enjoys spending time with family and friends.
