Dr. Voss graduated from Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois, and the Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana. She completed her residency at the University of Tennessee in Memphis, where she was a clinical instructor in the department of OB/GYN for two years. She is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics & Gynecology and a Diplomate of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Voss is trained and certified to perform DaVinci Robotic Surgery.
Asha has been practicing medicine since 1998, and opened the only all female OB/GYN practice in the area, Obstetrics & Gynecology of Dothan, in August 2001. “I wanted a small, personalized atmosphere where patients could feel their physician was reachable. We are women caring for women. We grow with our patients, and as women, we experience the same challenges, and have a shared understanding. There is someone here for everyone; we want our patients to find the physician who works for them, and feel the security of knowing there is someone who will listen. We have well-trained physicians and maintain high standards.”
Asha got into the field because of the completeness of care she can provide as an OB/GYN. “I felt a whole new world had opened up to me—delivering babies, doing surgeries and having a practice—kind of combining several specialties,” she explains. “I have the opportunity to provide care through a continuum of life events—from counseling teens to delivering, helping with most personal problems, managing menopause, performing hysterectomies, and those who may have gynecological cancer.”
“I enjoy assisting patients with minute issues that can help with the big picture of their health,” she says. “We are OB/GYNs who try to extend beyond obstetrics and gynecology to help the entire patient. As our practice grows, we want this practice to continue to have a private atmosphere-where patients develop. What I love most is having happy patients.
Having grown up in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad, in the West Indies, it is no surprise Asha likes to travel. She speaks French, Spanish and German. She is also a tennis player and loves to cook, she also loves to read and spend time with her husband, two children and dogs.
