TROY, Ala. (AP) -- Alabama's Troy University is turning 125 this year and is kicking off a year-long celebration starting this Saturday.

Troy alumnus and CNN reporter Tom Foreman is returning to campus to serve as the master of ceremonies for the Saturday gala, which includes an induction into the university's planned giving society, a reception and a birthday dinner celebration.

The events continue with a "worldwide simultaneous celebration" on Feb. 24, spring reunion in late March and receptions planned throughout the rest of 2012.

On Friday the university will formally dedicate the Manuel H. Johnson Center for Political Economy. A Troy alumnus, Johnson donated $3.6 million to create the center.

Arthur Brooks, president of the conservative American Enterprise Institute for Public Policy Research, will give the keynote speech.
