DOTHAN---The Westgate Aqua Center Foundation met with the city's recreation board Thursday.
The group presented its findings on the benefits of adding a warm water pool complex to the sports center like accommodating the special exercise needs of seniors, the physically challenged, pregnant women and young children.
"Currently the current pool does not exceed 83 degrees which is rather cold for most seniors and small children and so forth to exercise in on a daily basis," said Westgate Aqua Center Foundation Chairman Dr. Angela Allgood
The group says it will pay for the construction through donations from the medical community, civic groups, residents and grants.
The two boards will meet again in a few weeks to further discuss the plan.
