MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) -- The federal judge presiding over
Alabama's gambling corruption trial has told potential jurors that
they should not let the death of defendant Ray Crosby impact their
deliberations.

Jury selection began Monday morning in federal court in
Montgomery. U.S. District Judge Myron Thompson told jurors that
Crosby died a week ago from natural causes and that caused a
one-week delay in the trial. Six defendants remain for the retrial.

Defense attorneys read lists of potential witnesses in court
Monday morning, including former Gov. Bob Riley, former Attorney
General Troy King, former Lt. Gov. Steven Windom, House Speaker
Mike Hubbard, former House Speaker Seth Hammett, and Senate
President Pro Tem Del Marsh. The list also includes entertainers
Randy Owen, George Jones and Lorrie Morgan. None of them testified in the original trial.
