(Ozark, AL)--A deer in Ozark created a different kind of breaking news on Wednesday.
Grocery Outlet employee, Pam Blackwell, was working at the Martindale Plaza Shopping Center when a deer went crashing through a neighboring store-front. Blackwell said she immediately ran next-door to check on the store owner, Martin Price, Fortunately, he wasn’t inside.
“The deer was in the very back, running from wall-to-wall- head butting it, trying to get it, it looked like he was trying to go through the wall,” Blackwell said,
Tonya Watson, who witnessed the event, said the deer tore through the store for about fifteen minutes and then left,
“When he charged out the door, he went straight for the sidewalk and right out in the parking lot,” Watson said, “I got into my truck to try and track him down, but I wasn’t able to find him,” she said,
The deer caused around 3-thousand dollars in damage, but store owner Martin Price Senior said the situation could have been worse.
“If I had been sitting at my desk when he came through the window, he would have been in my lap,” Price said.
Authorities said it is unclear where the deer went or if it is still alive.
