MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) -- Jury selection for the retrial of
Alabama's gambling corruption case is entering its third day in
Montgomery.
Defense and prosecuting attorneys spent Monday and Tuesday
interviewing 55 potential jurors. Another group of about 30
potential jurors is scheduled for interviews Wednesday.
A defense attorney for casino owner Milton McGregor, Bobby
Segall, told potential jurors that the questions may sound off the
wall, but they are designed to find a fair jury. Attorneys have
asked potential jurors if they use Twitter, own a smart phone,
gamble regularly, own a gun, or identify with the Occupy Wall
Street movement.
Attorneys expect to select a jury Thursday or Friday for the
trial of McGregor and five others on charges accusing them of
buying and selling votes for pro-gambling legislation.
