Bank Independent CEO Edward Mauldin dies
A banking leader from northwest Alabama has died.

FLORENCE, Ala. (AP) - A banking leader from northwest Alabama
has died.
Bank Independent CEO Edward Fennell Mauldin of Florence died
Sunday.
He was 83.
Mauldin led the merger of two banks to form Bank Independent in
1982.
Since then, it has grown to have 29 branches in six northwestern counties and $950 million in assets.
Mauldin was also instrumental in the establishment of what is
now the Shoals Economic Development Authority.
He is survived by a wife and three sons.
