DECATUR, Ala. (AP) - A Morgan County jury has found University
of Alabama-Huntsville physics professor Andrew Pakhomov guilty of
killing his wife and dumping her body in the Tennessee River.

Jurors deliberated for more than seven hours over two days
before deciding Friday that Pakhomov killed his wife over Memorial
Day weekend in 2006 and put her body in the water. It surfaced June
1.

Pakhomov stood silently when the verdict was read. He faces up
to 99 years in prison.

Prosecutors say Pakhomov killed his wife during a fight after
the pair went on a canoe trip in Tennessee.

Yelena Zakin, Pakhomov's wife, had just wrecked his office when
she found the professor with another woman.
