Army Missile Command makes changes after kickbacks

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) - The Army Space and Missile Defense Command at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville says it has changed its
approach to contracting due to a public corruption investigation.
Spokesman John Cummings says guilty pleas by two former officials resulted in an internal review and more oversight of contracting.
A former deputy director at Redstone Arsenal, Doug Ennis, pleaded guilty in February to conspiracy and receiving $75,000 from a subcontractor. Former arsenal official Michael Cantrell pleaded guilty in January to taking $1.6 million in kickbacks from contractors. Both are awaiting sentencing.
The arsenal investigation is continuing. A federal grand jury recently indicted Dennis Darling of Reddington Beach, Fla., on bribery charges alleging payments to Cantrell.
