Motorists in downtown Opp may have been a bit confused over the past week

The city has replaced the traffic signal at Main Street and Covington Avenue with a four-way stop. Longtime residents tell "news four" that the traffic signal had been in place since the 1940's.

The city council's decision to remove it came after an engineering study concluded that the light traffic flow didn't warrant a signal.

A one-million dollar renovation of Opp's downtown business district is currently underway.
