A Dutch scientist is working on a new food that gives a whole new meaning to 'mystery meat.'

The idea… to grow cow meat from bovine stem cells.

You're looking at the real thing...

But this burger is worth more than a just few bucks -- the project costs about 330-thousand dollars!

There are a few kinks to work out ...

Since there is no blood in the meat -- it's pinkish yellow in color.

And scientists need to grow the fat separately - to keep the meat juicy and tasty.

To produce the meat efficiently and on a large scale - it could take up to 20 years...and that's if the research has unlimited funds.

Doctor Mark Post -- a university professor in the Netherlands...is planning to unveil his Petri-Grown burger in October.

The test tube bar food will be shown at the annual meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science in Vancouver.

No word yet on who will get the first bite.
