Okaloosa County will launch the Points of Care prescription savings program, a no-cost savings program that will save residents up to 50% off their prescription medications, diabetes supplies, durable medical equipment and hearing aids.
This program is designed to assist residents who do not have prescription drug coverage through their insurance or if there are medications that are not covered through insurance.
“The Board of County Commissioners actively sought a program at no expense to the County that reduces prescription costs for residents,” said Commissioner James Campbell. “First and foremost, the program is designed to help residents save money.”
Points of Care is administered by Universal Rx, a prescription benefit management company based in Roanoke, Virginia.
Universal Rx is a leading national provider of managed care and discount prescription services.
Founded in 1995, Universal Rx provides services and benefits that improve health outcomes and reduce overall healthcare costs for clients and members.
“We are excited to help the residents of Okaloosa County save money on prescription medications, said Jan Sessor, President of Universal Rx.
“During difficult economic times, savings is important and can mean the difference of prescriptions being purchased or not each month. We are confident that our savings program will make a difference for the people in Okaloosa County, and more importantly, bring a little relief to the high cost of medications.”
Residents can pick up the prescription savings cards at locations throughout the county, including county buildings, local pharmacies, the Health Department and libraries will also receive a supply soon.
Residents simply present their card at one of over 45,000 participating pharmacies nationwide, including CVS, Kmart, Publix, Sam’s Club, Target, Wal-Mart, and Winn-Dixie to begin saving.
(Walgreens accepts Universal Rx cards; however, the cards cannot be picked up at Walgreens.)
