Rabies are a deadly disease and Houston County is being proactive by fighting against it.
Many dog and cat owners were provided discounted rabies shots throughout the wiregrass earlier Saturday. Vaccination shots only cost $10. Residents say this clinic has come at a perfect time because earlier this week, Houston County officials confirmed two separate cases of rabies.
"... I'd figured that I could cut my costs a little bit this year anyway and take advantage of this
$10 shot. I think all animals should be vaccinated, especially for rabies," said James Price, a local pet owner.
Henry County held their annual rabies clinic today as well. Alabama state law requires all cats and dogs 3 months of age and older to be vaccinated for rabies annually.
