Ozark, AL - Dale Medical Center employees and Ozark Firefighters received training from the Advanced Regional Response Training Center Thursday.
They covered what to do in the case of chemical or radiological exposures as well as how to properly use a chem. suit.
Experts say this training should be done once a year.
“You have to be prepared for whatever happens, when it happens. Usually it is unexpected. They have a big role in providing the care in mass casualty events. We’ve got to do it. They just have to be ready,” said David Wallace, Director of Preparedness Safety at the Advanced Regional Response Training Center at University of South Alabama.
The state of Alabama offers this course for free.
About 8,000 healthcare workers in the state have gone through this program in the last decade.
