Head Lice Spike After Spring Break

A professional head lice removal company says outbreaks are up in Philadelphia, and parts of New York, New Jersey and Delaware.

The co-owner of Lice Lifters says spring break is a major time for head lice, partly because of the increase in the use of helmets for biking, baseball, and softball.

It's also a time that kids are having slumber parties, or getting together for holiday parties, and head-to-head contact could happen.

Lice Lifters suggests the best ways to prevent outbreaks is tie back long hair and detect lice early.

You can check your child's head regularly and even use a lice comb once a week during the school year.
