The American Academy of Pediatrics is now recommending boys as well as girls receive the HPV vaccine.
Previously the AAP only backed routine vaccinations for girls.
The group recommends boys 11 and 12 be immunized against human papillomavirus
to help prevent cancers and genital warts.
The recommendation is published in the March issue of Pediatrics.
HPV's are the most common sexually transmitted viruses in the U.S.
It's found more frequently in sexually active adolescents and young adults.
