Could Tide detergent cause cancer?

Tide detergent may do more than just clean your clothes.

It may expose you to a cancer-causing chemical, according to the New York Times.

The detergent contains trace amounts of "dioxane."

The Environmental Protection Agency finds that "dioxane" may cause cancer in lab rats.

Environmental and health advocacy groups have asked Procter-and-Gamble to change the formula.

A Procter-and-Gamble toxicologist says the amount of the chemical in Tide is well below the safety risk level.

Maybe if P&G kicks in big time to the Obama re-election campaign the Enviromental Protection Agency might re-evaluate their data and come to a more favorable conclusion regarding TIDE?

I agree with Jasper. I worked on a pallative care unit with cancer patients for many years, and cancer doesn't seem to have to have something to cause it to activate in the body. Yes, i have seen many that cancer was caused by something, but just as many that had no reason to have the cancer they encountered.

Well I do quite a bit of reading and I've come to the conclusion that "Living" causes cancer.People come down with certain kinds of cancer then years later health workers will say working in certain factories being around or handling this or that causes cancer. Some people get cancer other people get breathing, heart, eyes, and other health problems We live in a modern society,to have what we have there's going to be risk. With every modern convenience comes some kind of health issue. We can learn to adjust or go green and get rid of all modern things and start doing everything the old fashion hard way. And even then you'd be faced with viruses, bacteria and other unseen dangers that would plague people. Tide is a darn good detergent, I'm going to continue to buy it.
