MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) -- The powerful head of the Retirement Systems of Alabama again is calling for Gov. Robert Bentley to accept Medicaid expansion under President Barack Obama's 2010 health care law. reports that business and real estate leaders are the newest targets in Bronner's lobbying effort.

He told a recent gathering of executives at the Alabama Center for Real Estate that Bentley opposes Medicaid expansion only because he's running for re-election next year in a state where the president remains unpopular.

Bronner said it makes little sense for Alabama not to accept billions of federal dollars for health care in the state, even it means putting up some state tax money to get it.

Bentley told that he doesn't think Obama's law is a workable solution.
