Living to see one-hundred and one years is quite the accomplishment. An Ashford woman is celebrating this milestone today with over four generations of family and friends.
Edna Fellows Christmas is thankful for another birthday.
“God just blesses me, I try to live a clean life and try to behave and he just blessed me,” said Christmas.
Those who know her best say that she is an inspiration to people of all ages, especially to her daughter Edna Earl.
“We all have our own special relationship with her and I think we can all say that she is a very special person…She’s just like a find diamond, she’s strong, sturdy and you can depend on her, she sparkles,” said Edna Earl Christmas.
After all, reaching the age of 101 is a pretty big deal. Christmas says following the simple rules in life have carried her a long way.
“I never smoked nor drank and I just tried to behave. I didn’t always behave I’m sure but I tried,” said Christmas.
Her family believes that a huge part of her outcome is the absence stress.
“What I think is that she doesn’t worry very much. She has been fortunate to have people around her who have taken a lot of the load and the business part of life from her,” said Edna Earl Christmas.
Whether its destiny or making smart life choices Christmas is grateful for another year and more time to spend time with those that she loves. Edna is also a very diehard Auburn University football fan.
