Doctors looked at 50 seniors.

Those who ate about 30 percent less than the rest of the group did 10 to 20 percent better on memory tests.

One reason why may be because less calories means less insulin and inflammation, which boosts brain cells and improves memory.

The study appears in the journal "National Academy of Sciences."
