The study out of Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, shows most overweight teens who have gastric bypass surgery can come off their diabetes medications in as little as one year.
Researchers followed 78 teens with Type Two Diabetes.
Eleven teens had gastric bypass surgery, the others did not.
The ones who had the surgery not only lost weight, they saw their diabetes go into remission.
The findings are being published in the January issue of Pediatrics.
