University of Michigan researchers put lab rats on a high salt diet, and then either fed them a mix of green, red, and black grapes or gave them medicine to reduce their blood pressure.
The rats that ate the grapes had better heart function, lower blood pressure and less inflammation throughout their bodies compared to the rats on the medication.
The study's author says the findings are important because out-of-control blood pressure can eventually lead to heart failure.
Although grapes may help, the best advice for keeping your blood pressure in check is still to go easy on the salt.
