Dr. Michael Maloney helped create a sports performance camp. It teaches them how to fall without getting hurt. Experts say kids should not work out with weights until they have reached skeletal maturity, which is usually in the mid to late teen years. Instead, they should stick to strength training, like doing push ups and sit ups. Also, kids should only workout three to four times a week.
The three most common mistakes kids make when it comes to sports are playing when they're injured, over training and not giving their bodies a break.
