You made breakfast for the kids, drove them to school, and then put in eight hours at work. When you finally arrive at home, more than likely, you're faced with even more responsibility, such as cleaning the house.
In this Angie's List Report, News Four's Tessa Darlington tells us how a housecleaner can help cut down your stress.
I think it's safe to say most people hate house cleaning, especially when it comes to a certain room.
"In a recent Angie's List poll, nearly 60% of respondents said their least favorite room to tackle is the bathroom- the most common complained about areas are toilets and cleaning soap scum,” Angie’s List Founder Angie Hicks said.
That's just one dirty reason why many people are using housecleaners.
"Hiring a professional service takes a lot of stress out of their day to day activities. There are working moms and working dads so there are a lot of activities they have to do so it adds to more family time and sometimes hiring a professional cleaning service allows you to spend more time with your family which a lot of people prefer,” housecleaner Laura Knox said.
Some people don't consider these services because they're afraid of the cost, but there are ways to get it within your budget. For example, you can take care of most of the house and only have a professional handle the pesky areas.
"Seventy percent of Angie's List members reported they spend most of their time cleaning the kitchen. A professional housecleaner can cut that time down and depending on the size of your home, can probably clean your house for about 80 dollars,” Hicks said.
If you're interested in hiring a professional, Hicks recommends bringing one to your house to get a cost estimate. Don't settle for an over the phone estimate. If you do end up going with a cleaning service, make sure to leave a list outlining exactly what you expect to be done.
Hicks also recommends checking a professional's references and doing a background check before you hire. Finally, make sure you and the cleaner agree on who will provide the cleaning supplies so there is no confusion.
